EXPLORE NICARAGUA

It is not without good reason that Nicaragua is becoming the travel destination it was always meant to be.  This country is graced with a wealth of natural beauty, friendly and welcoming locals, and a strong cultural tradition of art, poetry and crafts.   You can enjoy all this while sipping on the high quality coffee, sampling the world class cigars, and enjoying international award winning rum.  You should explore this place.  The team at Rancho Majagual will work with you to ensure you can maximize your experience of all that is Nicaragua.

San Juan del Sur

The laid back fishing village of San Juan del Sur is famed for its relaxed vibe and welcoming locals.  The town is filled with choices for restaurants and bars, and the slower pace of life here makes it a great spot to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying the nightlife.  Shop for handmade Nicaraguan crafts in the market, load up on supplies from the fruit and fish markets, or enjoy the hike to The Christ of the Mercy, a colossal statue of Jesus that stands high above the town- it is worth the hike up to enjoy some of the best views of the town and bay.  Located only a 20 minutes drive from Rancho Majagual we can help arrange transportation to and from SJDS.

Granada

Granada - situated on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, this is the oldest city on the American Continent and a 'must' visit for any guest to Nicaragua.  Time stands still in this vibrant, cultural hub where the history is palpable and  gorgeous colonial architecture is at it's finest.   Explore the town, indulge in a visit to the chocolate factory, then take a boat tour and experience the nearby Isletas de Granada. The town is know for it's strong culture of art- you never know what you may find here.  For some insight into one of Nicaragua's most important crops, take a drive up the winding, cloudy, forested road of Mombacho volcano which flanks the towns edge to visit a working coffee plantation.

Masaya

Both a town and volcano this may be a chance of a lifetime- the opportunity to peer into the lava pool of Volcan Masaya.  First, spend an afternoon wandering the famous craft market shopping for hand woven hammocks, traditional wooden crafts, Primitivista paintings and hand painted pottery while enjoying the delicious local fruit juices on offer.  End the day by heading to Parque Nacional Volcan Masaya for dusk and watching the lake of lava glow in the twilight setting.

Ometepe Island

The peaks of Ometepe Island's twin volcanos, Concepción and Maderas, tower over Central America's largest lake- Lake Nicaragua.  This is only fresh water lake in the world known to have ocean creatures such as bull sharks and sword fish.  Ometepe is an eco adventure paradise accessible by water or air.  Paddle the estuary and spot the wildlife, hike to the San Ramon waterfall and cool off under this cascade of cool water.  Soak yourself in the healing mineral pools of Ojo de Agua, and grab lunch at our favourite restaurant, Cafe de Campestre before returning to Rancho Majagual for the night.
