Do I need a vehicle?   

Guests of Rancho Majagual are not obligated to rent a vehicle- we can assist with arranging transport to and from the property as well as to San Juan del Sur and surrounding locations.  Guests looking to enjoy their own schedule and explore are encouraged to rent their own vehicle which we can assist with booking.

When is the best time to visit? 

Nicaragua is a year-round destination, with a relatively tropical, consistent climate. There are two slightly distinct seasons: the wet / summer season and the dry  / winter season. Nicaragua's dry season typically lasts between December and April, while the "wet" season is from May through October.  Despite these differences, the temperature tends to be between 80-90° F / 27 - 32° C . For those interested in surfing, the waves tend to be better during the wet season. 

Do I need anti-malarials? What shots do I need?  

 While there are malarial zones in Nicaragua, the risk is low to none in south western Nicaragua.  You are best to seek the opinion of your doctor prior to travelling as well as checking on your government website for suggested vaccinations for Nicaragua.

Do I need a passport?    

Indeed.  Your passport must be valid a minimum of six months past the date of your arrival, and you are required to pay $10US on arrival at the airport for your tourist visa.

Can I use American money?  Is there an ATM nearby?     

Absolutely!  Don’t bother changing your money to Nicaraguan Cordobas prior to arrival.  Change is general given in Cordobas, and always at a fair and current rate.  Don’t bother trying to pay in Euro’s or Canadian Dollars though, USD is the only foreign currency accepted.  Also, make sure any US bills you do bring are dated after 2000 and in good condition.There are several ATMS in town that dispense both USD and Nicaraguan Cordobas.

How do I reserve Rancho Majagual for my vacation? How can I pay?    

To reserve your stay at any or all of the accommodations in Ranch Majagual we require an initial 50% deposit which can be paid through Paypal, AIRBNB or VRBO.

How far is town?

We are 12km or 20mins from San Juan del Sur..

How far are you from the beach? 

Rancho Majagual is located directly on the beach of Playa Majagual.  You simple need to arrive here, and you arrive at the beach.

Is there a grocery store nearby?    

There is a large, North American style grocery store in town called the Pali.  It is fully stocked with almost everything you could need.  There are also several specialty stores in town stocked with hard to get items, coffee and imported liquor.  If you are planning on cooking for yourself at Rancho Majagual There is a town market selling fruits and vegetables, and fresh fish can be picked up daily at the local docks. 

What beached can I walk to?   

The two nearby beaches, Playones and Playa Maderas can be accessed in a very short walk along the coastline.

Can we just use a taxi service vs renting a car? 

Yes, our onsite concierge will work to make this happen for you.

Do you have towels and linens?   

Clean, fresh bath towels, bed linens and beach towels are provided for your use at all the accommodations in Rancho Majagual.  We also have daily cleaning and laundry is available on site. 

How many houses share the pool?   

If you rent the entire property of Rancho Majagual the pool is yours and yours alone. If you rent one of our rooms/homes than El Rancho, Ranchito Jicaro, Ranchito Guanacaste and Ranchito Palerma share the beach front pool.

What kind of electrical plug is there?   

All houses have  three pin north american standard electrical outlets

What if I fly in late?  

Not a concern - we will arrange direct transport to the house with a shuttle company and assist you the next day with getting your 4 x 4 etc. if you have opted to rent one.

Is there someone to meet me and show me the house?  How do I get there?     

All guests of Rancho Majagual benefit from meeting our onsite English and Spanish speaking concierge for no additional charge.  Our concierge will meet you on arrival, show you around, and then escort you to your accommodations and orient you with the house and the community.  Our concierge is also available prior to your arrival to help arrange shuttles and activities during you stay.

How do I get from the airport to Rancho Majagual?  Which airport do I fly too?      

We encourage you to fly to the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport for ease of arrival in Managua, Nicaragua.  For those of you who speak Spanish and have experience crossing international borders Liberia, Costa Rica is an optional as well.  We will work to assist with arranging land transfer from wherever you chose to arrive. We can assist with arranging direct transport from both Managua and Costa Esmerlda Airpot via Helicopter directly to Rancho Majagual as well.
